Sweet dreams are made of me [May. 4th, 2011|05:35 pm]
In my utmost and sincere desire to keep this blog alive, here are snaps of what have happened last week.

I styled the ever so fun, Ms Ruffa Gutierrez for two tapings of Talentadong Pinoy.

We decided to do a Charina Sarte day so she wore her for both episodes. I felt the need to lend Tuesday this Ken Samudio neckpiece since Ruffa would rather settle on the bejeweled and colored-stone pieces rather than something with skulls (which though I find really cute!)

Episode 2 had her in both Ken Samudio and Eric Manansala neckpieces.

I styled the fabulous trio (Ogie Diaz, K Brosas and Nikki Gil) for last Saturday's E-Live!. Both girls were wearing my favorite Azucar dresses and Atelier Avatar accessories. K went sky-high in her Michael Antonio booties (which I gifted her last Christmas) and Nikki went summer sexy in her new Bebe platforms. I made Ogie wear this Jerome Lorico jacket I borrowed from Patrick Galang (yes, he's already a stylist).

Hours after, we celebrated Rain's 26th birthday in Tong Yang!

Sunday was a fun-day as usual. I styled Shaina for 3 prods and 1 spiel.

letting loose [Apr. 29th, 2011|05:34 pm]

I always have a lot of things in my head that I would want to do (that by now, should have been done) but for a myriad escape of reasons, I just can't start ticking off even just one from the list that really keeps getting longer na I may have unconsciously underwent (mild) depression amidst the everyday hustle my work entails. Ang arte!

The holy week went by so fast, I weighed 15lbs heavier before I actually had the food splurge – now, God knows how many more pounds I gained. Case in point, I want to start jogging. They say a habit forms when you religiously do it 21 times day by day – how on earth do I get to accomplish that when everytime I “decide” to take an early morning jog, I end up snoozing the alarm which doesn't really work most of the time as I have grown immune to the sound of it already. Sigh. I once had the bright idea (but as usual, wala na namang nangyari) of blowing-up a photo of me naked and post it somewhere no other person can see – para lang I get the encouragement to run and get fit and at the same time the pressure of not eating any more junk! There goes one major weight issue.

I wish I'd blog more. I always check on other blogs every so often that by the time I make a post on my own, either I'm falling asleep already or I'm running late to an appointment. It really sucks because I think a lot of great things have been happening in my life lately that really need proper chronicling. Pero wala, I always end up in the drafts! That's game number 2.

Smoke-quitting is one of the biggest issues I have now. I've been hearing from a lot of people about serious cases of deaths and sickness and so on brought about by severe smoking – yes, it scares me but I can never just abruptly shake myself and say, “Bakla, itigil na yang suba!”. I guess I just lack appeal to myself (parang walang charisma sa sarili!) or yes, I need one big dose of discipline. Nakakaloka!

I just wish I come just in time and tick these things off the list before time runs out (nakakaloka! Afraid) but in the meantime, I'll still be working my ass para umachieve!

On that note, please grab (read: bumili!) a copy of the following magazines where I have been given the chance to contribute!

StarStudio – I styled the fabulous Iza Calzado for the Myra-E advertorial.

Working Mom – I styled the fashion pages where it gives working moms the fun ideas of wearing this season's pants plus I styled the super nice Suzi Abrera for the Sangobion advertorial.

Maven – ABS-CBN's new magazine, I styled the feature on Kylie Padilla.

Preview – I styled the feature on power moms from different age groups (Mylene Dizon, Dyan Castillejo, Georgia Schultz among others) and another feature on Miss Universe 1979, Margie Moran.

Cosmopolitan – my monthly fashion editorial brings you keypieces you can use from the office to the holidays!

MEGA – the “Get Ready to Wear” section that I styled tells you how to dress age-appropriately in nature prints.

SPEED – Styled my girl, Bea Alonzo for their Anniversary issue cover and cover story.

of training shoes and high heels [Apr. 3rd, 2011|08:19 pm]
in 2 days, this is how 19 girls happened.

Photobucket

I styled the super nice Iza Calzado for an advertorial to be published in one particular glossy next month. (That's woman number 1)

Photobucket

Just today, I spent a good 4 hours styling what was like the "bisikleta" girls segment of the first-ever Candy fashion show. My segment, of fifteen real girls, was sponsored by Skechers, Ecko and Zoo York - the reason why it's all too sporty. Special citation to my new-found manang named Michelle who hand-made all those neon jersey fringes! Gotta love them!

Photobucket

Still this afternoon, spent hang time with the other stylists for the show, Rachelle Que and Lyca Puno.

the finally, closing my Sunday, was Bea Alonzo in an Arleen Sipat dress, Arnel Papa cuff and YSL pumps. She was guested in The Buzz also to promote her movie.

So there, 19 girls. They all happened. Just like that.

PACK MENTALITY [Apr. 2nd, 2011|03:12 pm]
It's amazing how people, of all different beliefs and points of view, would come together and sum up a name that writers, and those who just love to pay attention, consciously brand them with.

Being featured in this month's MEGA (under of course my mentor and ex-boss, Pam Quinones' tribe) gives proof to how people somewhat manage to gather people and drop them in their "respective" groups. Ours was EDGY, I could have just called it DARK PACK or MESSY POSSE (haha)

The day went way too long for a one-layout shoot. So naturally, on top of all the chatting, laughing and ADHD-ing, I took photos of the "details" that went by. Starting with everyone's trinkets I would name, "interesting accessories"

and also, mine.

Others seem to just hate wearing accessories for some reasons - one was too acidic (hey I am, but I still force-slip) others all said "that is so not me/us" (what?). Failure to understand the reason why I am making this a big deal is acceptable. I just looove relating everything that transpired - those that survived and have remained apres my short-term memory.

Photobucket Pam Quinones will forever be one of my inspirations (slash career pegs! haha)

First Time [Feb. 17th, 2011|09:07 am]

I was in my first-ever TVC shoot last Monday. When I was still Pam's assistant, we made through roughly 90 TVC's and not a single mediocre one (well in my opinion, most, if not all, are styled with quality). On the day of this TVC shoot, right after my clothing options were approved, I bbm'd Pam and told her that I'm doing my first solo TVC - told her how it must have been really hard it is from the meetings to finally getting the approval from the director to the agency and client and thanked her for giving me the best training one aspiring stylist could ever get.

It still feels dreamy how I've managed to pull it through - without any assistance from anyone. I am so blessed to be "the only stylist" being requested by the celebrity. To top things off, the shoot started rolling at 11am and ended at 8pm. That's nothing but a miracle (or a really fabulous team) for a beauty shoot. Love!

that week! [Jan. 10th, 2011|12:13 pm]
It has been dawning on me for the past weeks that every Sunday would serve as a somewhat recital for me and the other celeb stylists. We conjure our best ensembles together with the challenges of 1) satisfying our celebrity clients, which will make them feel confident. 2) bringing in a fresh new look of the seemingly past trend and 3) making the outfits appear tasteful done both on and off cam.

so this episodes happened yesterday. Thank you, Eric Manansala for providing some of the accessories and for taking BTS photos which I would have done if it weren't for the gap schedules.

Bea Alonzo, my new client, in a topshop corset and leather tights

I wasn't expecting her to have lost weight, so I had to fix the back to make the fit better

I love Bea Alonzo!

My last outfit of the day for Shaina. Eric Delos Santos dress and Eric Manansala neckpiece

Packing up time. I look like i'm in deep shit here.

How it all ended and how it just started [Jan. 5th, 2011|10:25 am]
I still can't get over the fact that the holidays have already gone past. It's my favorite part of the year. I would have made a post about the highlights of 2010 but I thought it would be so tacky (well, I did A LOT of things and only the heavens know how would I be telling a story with photos to boot!) so now I'm doing a post about how it ended and how I just started the new year :)

My last shoot for 2010 was an editorial for the Philippine Daily Inquirer. The direction was to showcase Alexa Chung's personal style in a more pinay-achievable manner. I had barely 2 days to prepare and execute, but thanks to the wonderful team I had - photographer Niko Villegas and the fab duo Jake Galvez and Buern Rodriguez, I was able to deliver.

Of course, the wedding of the year (well, in our opinion! haha). My younger sister married her long time boyfriend in an Eric Delos Santos gown. I belong to a big family and this is a proof - I have 2 parents, 6 siblings, 4 nieces, 1 nephew, 4 siblings-in-law and one husband :)

With the boyfriend who had to leave me to spend time with his family over the holidays but who made it up to me the first hour I got back :)

Food, food, food and 6 meals a day for the holidays. I am not complaining!

Isingit natin the food I forced everyone to eat! ang ending, ginawang pulutan ni Papa and big brothers ko!

Fireworks to welcome the bright and new 2011!

Then Poker where I lost around 1200 bucks, sh*t!

hours after, we did the annual visit to the Basiilica of Our Lady of Piat

My youngest brother with our youngest niece, Jamila Rose

and the big sister, Juliana Rein, who took the family photographer spot when we had lunch at my newly-wed sister's husband's hometown.

Food, again!

That just ended my 2010.

I went back to Manila as soon as I can for work. January 1 was my prep day for ASAP so I had to take the earliest flight back to gather outfits for Shaina.

January 2, ASAP's first episode of the year. Shaina in an UNDERNOURISHED dress and YSL grosgrain platforms.

Spieling in an Eric Manansala neckpiece, Cosmopolitan skirt and The Ramp waistcoat.

ASAP has the most chica people and even the non-celebs! Shaina in a Coexist jacket and our favorite Alaia goat-hair boots posing with Teacher Georcelle with the fierce Dsquared2 spine heels!

Just yesterday, I passed by Summit and returned pullouts. My genuinely first outfit for the year:

wearing the boyfriend's NIKE x Cassette Playah SB's

leather pants from The Ramp (Seriously, The ramp has everything!!!)

and a thrifted knit cardigan with details I just love!

I had late lunch with Cit-Cit and Lia who was the one who pointed out that we were all in stripes!

bumped into Adrianne and Eds of Garage who were both also in stripeys!!!

So there, the year started out just fine and I am really looking forward to a more fruitful year ahead. Truly, life can be happy, after all, as long as you choose it to be :)

Palakpakan in the province [Dec. 27th, 2010|09:27 pm]
Since there is really nothing to do here in the province that would take me to sweat off all the carbs I ate from the pre-christmas, Christmas and post-christmas food sessions, I thought I'd just do a post from the recent weeks' events for all its worth. All in random order, as always.
